Study of Galatians

By Steve Tackett

In the epistle to the church at Galatia, Paul drives home the major theological point that a person is justified through faith in the Cross of Christ, and not by the works of the law. If the law could justify a person, then Christ died in vain. The Mosaic Law was intended to be a "schoolmaster" to demonstrate that we could never really keep the law, nor could we achieve salvation by following it. He condemns soundly and repeatedly throughout the letter those who would attempt to rob the Believers of their freedom in Christ.
